Loan Officer
Kalagara Inc. is looking for a detail-oriented, motivated Loan Officer Intern for a 6-month contract role . This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the real estate finance industry. The ideal candidate will assist in client engagement, mortgage documentation, and loan processing, while learning from seasoned professionals in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist loan officers in preparing mortgage loan files, gathering required documentation, and completing preliminary paperwork.
- Conduct initial outreach to potential clients to explain loan products and guide them through the application process.
- Perform basic financial assessments of clients under supervision, including reviewing credit scores and income verification.
- Support the processing and tracking of loan applications to ensure all deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate records in the loan origination system and provide timely updates to clients on application status.
- Coordinate with internal departments, including underwriting and compliance, to ensure seamless loan processing.
- Research mortgage trends, interest rates, and housing market insights to support sales presentations.
- Shadow experienced loan officers in client meetings and gain exposure to loan structuring and financing strategies.
- Learn the legal and regulatory aspects of the mortgage lending process.
- Contribute to improving client service operations by identifying process gaps and proposing solutions.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- Strong interest in real estate finance, mortgage lending, and client relationship management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first attitude.
- Basic understanding of loan concepts, interest rates, and credit evaluation preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); familiarity with CRM or mortgage software is a plus.
- High attention to detail and eagerness to learn within a structured, mentorship-based environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team.
